Reserve List Academy – Summer 2009 We have created the academy to provide our customers with an opportunity to learn more about the various facets of wine from our certified sommeliers. The classes have been designed to be fun and educational for the wine novice as well as those with years of wine experience. Saturday June 20th : Big Reds Stock up for a summer of grilling with these big rich reds. From luscious old vine zinfandels to smoky rich cabernets; nothing but big bold flavors. Saturday June 27th : Pacific Northwest Quality and Value are behind the explosion of wines from Washington and Oregon. We will explore what makes this region so special and the wines that put them on the map. From world class pinot noir to cab blends and the new exciting trends. Saturday July 17th : Wine 101 Wine 101 offers an introduction to the classic grapes, their home regions and sensory analysis. We will also discuss how the wines are made and where they are from and how that affects their taste and what foods make a good match. Saturday July 25th : Italy 101 Italy 101 will offer an overview to the main regions of Italy and the wines that made them famous. Taste and learn the wines of Trentino, Piemdmonte, Tuscany Campania and Sicily and how to decipher Italian wine laws and labels. August 8th : France 101 France 101 will give an overview to the growing regions, grapes and laws and help demystify the French wine label. You will also be exposed to some of the oldest wine making traditions in the world. August 22nd: Spain 101 This class will be awesome! Taste the renaissance that the wines of Spain have undergone in the last 15 years to position themselves as a new powerhouse in the market today. We will be tasting wines from regions with deep history to new up and coming areas.
